The scientific journal "Biosafety and Biotechnology" accepts for publication original research articles, short reports and reviews in the following areas of science:

  • Biological safety and biological protection
  • Epidemiology and epizootology, microbiology, virology, immunology and mycology.
  • Veterinary biotechnology
  • Medical biotechnology
  • Phytopathology and biotechnology of plants
  • Molecular genetics

HOW TO PREPARE AN ARTICLE FOR THE JOURNAL

  1. Requirements for manuscripts submitted to the journal

The text must be typed in Microsoft Word editor, Times New Roman font, size 12, single spacing, all margins 2 cm, paragraph indentation 1 cm. All pages and lines must be numbered and have end-to-end numbering. Alignment – by width (with automatic hyphenation).

The volume of articles should be 10-15 printed pages for original articles, 15-25 printed pages for reviews, up to 5 printed pages for short messages.

The authors must also submit each image in a separate file in the original size (at least 300 dpi).

  1. Language of the article

Manuscripts from any country in Kazakh, Russian and/or English are accepted for publication in the journal. The metadata of the article (the title of the article, the full name of the authors, the official name of the institutions of the authors, addresses, summary of the article, keywords, information for contacting the responsible author) must be presented in three languages.

Metadata of the article in another language (if the article is written in Kazakh, then in Russian or vice versa) and in English are given at the end of the article after the list of references.

For articles in Kazakh and Russian, the list of References should be additionally presented in transliterated form – see paragraph 4).

If the authors have not provided the metadata of the article in languages other than the language of writing the article or the translation is of poor quality, then the editorial board resorts to the services of an interpreter independently (the right to choose an interpreter remains with the editorial board).

  1. Title page (article metadata).

The cover page should include the following information:

1) IRSTI code (International Rubricator of scientific and technical information; determined by the link http://grnti.ru /)

2) the title of the article (concise and informative. Headings are often used in information search systems. If possible, avoid abbreviations and formulas)

3) initials and surnames of the authors (please clearly indicate the surnames (names) of each author and check the spelling of all names)

4) the organization and its location for each author (all affiliations are numbered with superscript Arabic numerals immediately after the author's name and before the corresponding address; specify the address of each organization, including the name of the locality and country), and, if possible, the e-mail address of each author. If all the authors of the article work in the same institution, it is not necessary to specify the place of work of each author separately, it is enough to specify the institution once. If the author has several places of work, each is indicated by a separate numeric index.

5) contact information (e-mail address) of the author for correspondence: (put the "*" sign immediately after the affiliation index of the author for correspondence and before the contact information). If there are several authors for correspondence, specify initials next to each address.

6) if available, specify the ID of the ORCID number for the authors using a hyperlink in the icon

7) abstract (one paragraph is no more than 300 words, with at least 150 words). The abstract should briefly state the purpose of the study, the main results and the main conclusions. The abstract is often presented separately from the article. In this regard, references, non-standard or unusual abbreviations should be avoided, but if they are necessary, they should be defined at their first mention in the abstract itself. The abstract should be an objective presentation of the article, should not contain results that are not presented or substantiated in the main text, and should not exaggerate the main conclusions.

8) keywords (5-10 words or phrases, should reflect the main content of the article; determine the subject area of the study. Each keyword is separated by a semicolon).

  1. The plan for building original articles

The structure of the original articles should correspond to the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion) and contain sections INTRODUCTION, MATERIALS AND METHODS, RESULTS, DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION. At the end of the article, information is posted about financial support for work, grants, acknowledgements; an indication of a conflict of interest; a list of cited literature. The original article is designed according to the TEMPLATE proposed by the editorial board of the journal.biosafety.kz

The introduction should outline the current state of the field of research and cite the main publications, substantiate the relevance and significance of the research. It is necessary to briefly indicate the purpose of the work. As much as possible, make the introduction understandable to scientists not involved in your particular field of research. Links should be numbered in the order of their appearance and indicated by a number or numbers in square brackets, for example, [1] or [2,3], or [4-6]. For more information about links, see the end of the document.

Materials and methods should be described in sufficient detail so that others can reproduce and use the published results. New methods and protocols should be described in detail, while well-established methods can be briefly described and appropriately cited.

Studies involving animals or humans, as well as other studies requiring ethical approval, must indicate the authority that granted the approval and the corresponding code of ethical approval.

The Results section should contain an accurate description of the experimental results, their interpretation, as well as experimental conclusions that can be drawn. If necessary, this section can be divided into subsections.

In the Discussion section, the authors should discuss the results obtained and how they can be interpreted from the point of view of previous studies and working hypotheses. Possible explanations of similarities and contradictions with other similar studies can be given in the discussion. Conclusions and their significance should be discussed in the broadest possible context. Also, future research directions can be highlighted in this section.

The section "Conclusion" includes a summary and summing up of the work at the current stage. Conclusions should be accurate and used to summarize the results of research in specific scientific fields with a description of proposals or opportunities for further work.

Financing: Specify the source of research funding (name of the funding organization, grant number). Carefully check the correctness of the data provided and use the standard spelling of the names of funding organizations.

Gratitude. In this section, you can mark any support provided. This may include administrative and technical support or the provision of materials for experiments.

Conflict of interest: All authors must disclose information about any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that may improperly influence (bias) their work. Examples of potential conflicts of interest include employment, consulting, stock ownership, fees, paid expert opinions, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding. If there are no conflicts to the publication of materials in the article, indicate that the authors do not have a conflict of interest.

In the "Literature" section, a list of cited literature should be provided, issued in accordance with GOST 7.1-2003 "Bibliographic record. Bibliographic description. General requirements and rules of compilation" (requirement for publications included in the COXON list). The list of references should be numbered in the order of mention in the text (including citations in tables and legends). Include a digital Object Identifier (DOI) for all links where they are available. In the text, references should be enclosed in square brackets [..] and are placed before punctuation marks; for example [1], [1-3] or [1,3].

  1. For the information of the authors

The article is accompanied by:

  • A cover letter (for third-party organizations).
  • Information about the authors: surname, first name and patronymic (in full), academic degree, position, place of work, contact phone numbers, correspondence address (e-mail).

The decision on publication is made by the editorial board of the journal after reviewing, taking into account the scientific significance and relevance of the submitted materials.

The type of review is a double "blind" review, that is, both the author and the reviewer remain anonymous. The manuscript is sent for review to a member of the editorial board and a reviewer; in controversial cases, additional reviewers are involved at the discretion of the editorial board; based on expert opinions, the editorial board determines the future fate of the manuscript: acceptance for publication in the submitted form, the need for revision or rejection. If necessary, the manuscript is sent to the authors for revision according to the comments of reviewers and editors, after which it is re-reviewed, and the editorial board again decides on the acceptability of the manuscript for publication. The revised manuscript must be returned to the editorial office within a month after the authors receive feedback; otherwise, the manuscript is considered as newly received. A manuscript that has received insufficiently high marks during review is rejected as not corresponding to the level or profile of the journal's publications.

The authors are responsible for the reliability and significance of the scientific results, as well as the relevance of the scientific content of the works.

Sending an article to the editorial office means that the authors have not submitted similar material (in the original or translated into other languages or from other languages) to another journal(s), that this material has not been previously published and will not be sent to another publication or accepted for publication in another journal. If, in the course of work on a manuscript, it turns out that similar material (possibly under a different name and with a different order of authors) has been sent to another journal, the article is immediately returned to the authors, the incident is reported to the journal that accepted this material for consideration, with a recommendation to reject the article for copyright infringement of the editorial board and publisher.
